It’s easy to see how the Giant Heart Cockle acquired its name, when viewed from the side it shows a beautiful heart shaped outline. The shell comes as two halves which when opened present a lovely hidey hole for precious trinkets. In fact this species if often used as a Seashell Ring Bearer for wedding rings in seaside or coastal services. Living in sandy sheltered beaches throughout the world cockle shells belong to the large family of shells know as the Cardiidae. This particular species (Plagiocardium Pseudolima) is common to East African shores and comes in natural shades of pinks though to orange. Size: approx 8-9 cm
