This species is well known in the reptile and bug keeping world as a successful addition to enclosures. There are many colour morphs available. Males of this species are identifiable by their large uropods, and as a whole it is a large species, perfectly showing off their colouring. Isopods require a humidity gradient across their enclosure for shedding and plenty of food availability throughout the enclosure.
