Stromatopelma calceatum, also known as the feather-legged baboon, is a very stunning tarantula from West-Africa. This is an arboreal species and are typically found in the heads of palm trees in the wild. This means they will require a tall vivarium and an appropriate hide on which they can construct an asymmetrical tubular web. This is a very defensive tarantula and due to their potent venom, they can give a nasty bite that can potentially be medically significant. For this reason, this species is recommended for experienced keepers.
